[written: 2018]
As I sit here, hesitantly creating a blog, I’m searching for the words to write about me.
I have a convaluted relationship with myself and for the past two years, I’ve been getting to know me. So, I’ll give you my best shot at introducing you to me, as I am now, with the understanding that I am always learning about life, always viewing my experiences as training courses on the human condition and truly have realizations about myself very frequently, almost daily. I am not who I was yesterday and I am not today who I will be tomorrow.
My story is this (and get ready to be wildly unimpressed, as it is not an unusual one): I am a white female, living in central Pennsylvania. I’ve been sober since September 19, 2016. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 32 years old. I am a mom and a wife. I am a hair stylist. I am absolutely not a professional writer, forgive me.
Really top notch stuff.
In getting sober and discovering that I have been living with and masking ADHD for 32 years, I learned a really significant amount about myself. As a result, I have a much different outlook on the world than I did before and apparently when I discuss these things with others, it resonates. I’m essentially using this blog as a place for my thoughts to reside publicly in the event that anyone wishes to read them.
To be clear, everything you find written in this blog are my reflections of my experiences and mine alone. I cannot speak to everyone’s life experiences and I respect that everyone has different perspectives on what they have dealt with.
With that being said, I have also become okay with getting uncomfortable and learning from genuinely listening to other’s experiences, at times my opinions and viewpoints may be influenced by things I have been told are other’s realities.
A few disclaimers:
I am 100% not an expert on any of the things I write about.
If you are ever in a situation and in need of professional help, please do not hesitate to seek therapy or help from a professional. Here you will find a few resources for help should you need it (coming soon)
If you find your interest peaked in anything I share and want to be more educated, I will always provide sources for things I have sources for. Do some research if you can and educate yourself further on a topic. As human beings we are never finished learning. In any capacity. It’s the beauty of this life, there is always more.
Wherever you find yourself devouring information and/or stories (even if it isn’t here), happy reading ✌🖤.
